Etsy Shop "FINDINGS UPDATE" is Complete!

The "Findings Sections" of the MiShel Designs Etsy shop  was updated today with new Ear Wires
and a few other things as well.

Be sure to get things while you can this month.

Once they're sold out, I may not be able to add any more until next month when I do the September "Findings Update".

And again, for those of you who order in large quantities (from 30 - 100 or more pairs of ear wires at a time) from me, please convo me with your requests when you need them and I'll arrange a personal, custom reserved listing for you.

Happy shopping!

Focus on Life - Week 12: Observe the Curve

For Week 12 of
Sally's prompt was:
Observe the Curve
"In life, as in art, the beautiful moves in curves."
~Edward G. Bulwer-Lytton
"We move, live and love in curves. Arms, legs and bodies curve to propel us into the life around us. Branches of trees curve to embrace the breeze. Letters curve and form words. Curves can keep things apart, hold things together or create a path. This week take a moment to focus on all the different kinds of curves that surround you everyday?
And there were indeed curves that surround me every day.
From the earring wires I create each day,
to the pottery dish sitting on my desk that was
skillfully crafted by my friend Kathy,
To the shadows of light that are cast,
Hand Carved Lucet by Gordon Wayne Baldock
On the perfect curves of the hand carved Lucets my brother so lovingly made for me.

Each week these challenges open up my mind, helping to slow the pace so I can
Observe the Curves of Life!

Please join the other participants over at
and see what Curves they have Observed!
Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Observing the Curves!

***Side Note***

Since people were curious as to what a Lucet (Knitting Fork) is and what it's used for, I thought I'd point you in the direction of
Rad Megan who sells them on Etsy.

I have one of her knitting forks.
I got it to use when I travel because I don't want to lose or harm the ones my brother custom made for me.

Rad Megan also has a blog and a you tube video where you can read about them, see the necklace tutorial she has posted using them and watch the video where she shows two different methods of
braiding cord with them.

Here's the Link:

The You Tube Video is about
half way down on her post.

Video Tutorials

Here's a question for everyone:
What media do you use for your video tutorials?

Do you just have a flip share camera video you download or a regular camera on a tripod,...your computer camera?

What forms of video and editing do you find the easiest for you or the best as far as quality and funtions?

I'm a complete techno-idiot,
so the word EASY really interests me.

But, being a bit of an anal perfectionist
(not always a good thing!),
I want to make sure the quality is good enough
for people to see clearly.

I'm asking because I've had people tell me they would like to see a video tutorial of a few of the earring wire styles
that I create and have for sale over on my

After you answer my questions about the types of video you use and download, what types of earring wire styles or other jewelry tutorials would you want to see?

I've seen so many really good jewelry videos but a couple of the one's that stand out for me are the ones by
B'Sue's Boutiques and the ones on Beaducation
I also like the ones that Szarka Carter
with Magpie Gemstones does, too.

All are completely different kinds of videos as far as the settings they are in and how they approach each subect - but they are all packed with excellent information, great techniques and loads of helpful hints and tips.

Click on the names above to go to a few of their videos and check them out - you'll be glad you did!

Have fun creating this week and be sure to give me some feedback - what you like, what you've tried, what you don't like, etc.

Any info or feedback at all is greatly appreciated!!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Learning New Things!

Steel Shot Down the Drain!

Okay, so one day this week - we won't mention which day - I was tumbling several orders of earring wires.

All was going well as I stopped the tumbler, removed the drum, took the lid off and started to carry it to the other side of the kitchen counter.

That's when things went down hill - quickly!

I tripped on the rug in front of the sink, hit the sink with my arms and the barrel carrying all the steel shot went sliding out of my hands and,....yep, guessed it,...right into the flipping garbarge disposal!!

A 1/2 a pound of steel shot just escaped from the barrel and was clogging up my garbage disposal!

I mean SHOT!

Seriously - You gotta be kiddin' me!!!

My son comes running as he hears my screams of distress

(The, "Holy SHIT!" comment brought him right in!).

So, as he sees that I've not burned holes through
my skin with any kind of acid
( I was just putting some ear wires through the whole liver-of-sulfur thing which he thinks is the most 'acid' type of thing I could ever do,...if he only knew!)
he comes around the sink to help.

As he sees all the shot in the sink he stops and then says

"Hang on Mom, I'll be right back.
That stuff is magnetic, right?"

At this point, I'm like, "I have no idea!"
(shoot me now,...just shoot me now!)

My son returns with this rectangle magnet that's sooooo strong and which proceeds to lift so much of the steel shot out of the sink that I'm pretty sure we'll only need minor repairs if we ever want to use it again!

Fast forward a half hour or so,...
My son helped me get most of the shot out of sink with his miracle magnet and I wrangled all the little pieces I could manage with my fingernails and only about 20 or so little pieces still remained!
(20 or so pieces,...WTF?!!)

And then, it's time to go to our Parent/Teacher conferences.
Yeah life really does go on,....

So, we call the hubby and give him the scoop and he says "Relax, I'll use the shop vac and get all those pieces out, not to worry!"
(I'm thinking,..."yeah right!")

However, we all meet up and then return from all the family stuff we had to do and guess what?

Not a single little itty bitty piece of steel shot remains in the garbarge disposal!

All is perfect again in my kitchen!
Woo Hoo!
Seriously,...WOO HOO!

And that's the end of another perfect day in Shel's World!!

***Sorry there's not pics, but my hands were a bit busy scraping steel shot and a few tomatoes out of the drain!***

This or That Thursday!

Treat yourself and gaze at the amazing photography
over on Deb Duty's Blog today for

You will be delighted!

I'm in awe of all the talent and the gorgeous photography - what absolute works of art they are!

I play along, even with my little point and click camera, just because I love to see everyone else's pics and because I would love to someday be that talented with a camera in my hand!

So, today, for "This or That Thursday"
I believe that the chili peppers need dusting
(along with probably everything else in my home!)
and that this little bracelet needs a name.

What should her name be?

Now, back to hammering metal for my
mega earring wire orders this week!

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and This or That,
Odds and Ends,.....Bits and Pieces!

Bead Table Wednesday

I'm trying to stay organized today,...might be a bit hard to do, but I'm trying!

Aside from the 'to-do' list of things here on my desk,...I have a huge earring wire order that's pending - over 80 pairs,....that's a lot of cutting, forming and hammering.

So, time to get started!

Have a great Wednesday and feel free to hop on over to the Flickr group and see what everone else is up to and what's on their bead table today!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Happy to be Busy!

And We Have A Winner!

Woo Hoo!  In our drawing this morning for the book give-a-way, Regina was selected.  She's been a loyal blog follower and I'm so excited that she has won!

(Psst,...Regina,...I will send you a private message and see where you want this mailed! )

Anyway - we had a few folks send us comments here and a few more on FB, but several of you either emailed me or Etsy Convo'd me as well, so there was a nice showing of hands for who wanted to win Irina Miech's book, "Beautiful Wire Jewelry for Beaders" - thanks so much to all who participated.

I'm getting ready this week to blog about a few of the folks who are using my earring wires in their designs.  Their creations are super cool and would make perfect holiday gifts and stocking stuffers,....and of course they'd make wonderful gifts to give yourslef, as well!!  (And this way you know you'll like the gift you get!)

So, Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and Congrats to Regina - here's to making beautiful wire jewelry!

Pretty Things!
