Spreading the LOVE in 2012,....

This is kind of like my Friday's Fab Favorites again.  I wanted to share a few sites that I love to go check out and read - they're fabulous, have great content and some of them are even having give-a-ways and challenges to boot!

Regina's Writings - LOVE her blog!  She has gorgeous jewelry and shares wonderful content and right now she's having a great Give-A-Way on her blog if you leave a comment and tell her about your New Year's Plans - so head on over there right now.

The necklace she's giving away is beautiful!!

Regina's Writings - Blog Give-A-Way

Michelle Mach's blog Beads and Books is always a fun place to check out and right now she's having a Valentine's challenge and it's not a bead challenge either!

Michelle Mach's Valentine's Challenge

And, it's FREE!  (Can you believe I'm posting something that's not related to jewelry in some fashion?)   Check out the cool challenge she's got going on and join in the fun!

Then, you know what's coming up right?

Yep, it's the
and registration starts this weekend!

It's gotten absolutely HUGE the last couple of times she's hosted this awesome event and so this time it's going to be run by a lottery to keep it down to a do-able size for everyone.

So, head on over to Lori's Blog between
and then hold your lucky rabbit's foot or whatever else you do for luck and pray you're one of the fortunate 200 who are randomly picked!!  I participated this past fall and had a wonderful partner and a great time!

Lori does an excellent job of keeping everything fair, fun and fantastic!! (what a job though - I cannot even begin to imagine all she goes through to accomplish such a wonderful event!) And, even if I don't get to participate this go-around, I'm really looking forward to the reveal date on March 3rd (Just a few weeks prior to my birthday!) when everyone's creations will be revealed and I can drool over all the fabulous designs everyone creates - that part is SOOO much fun, let me tell you!!

I love sharing what other's are doing out there on the web in 'Jewelry and Craft Land' because there's so many talented people with awesome give-a-way, challenges, ideas and fun parties going on - what's not to love about all of them!

Drop me a line and let me know what you've got going on over on your blog and I'll do a little mention here or on my MiShel Designs Facebook Page and I'll send a couple of Tweets out into Cyberland for you as well!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Spreading the LOVE in 2012!!

Cheers!

The Very Vintage Fall Challenge Blog Hop

 Michelle Mach hosted this

We all purchased these really cool Fall Challenge Kits and
were then 'challenged' to create something with them and
reveal it today.

I decided to stay as close to the theme of "Very Vintage" as I could - especially since this is completely out of my realm of "Norm".

I quickly realized while searching online that "Vintage" today
means soooooo many different styles!

What yummy inspiration I  discoved and what a treat to tap into my
creative side and release something new!

Don't be surprised if you start seeing more 'Vintage Inspired' looks popping up on my site here and over in my Etsy store - this stuff is fun (interpretation: addicting!)  and searching for oldies but goodies in antiques stores is something the hubby and I already love to do!!

These gorgeous leaves that I just love from the Vintaj Natural Brass, Co. were in my kit, so I sat down and created these.

Of course there's pearls in them, you all know me well enough by now to know I'd pop a pearl in somewhere, right?!

If you look carefully, you'll see there's a pearl in everyone one of my designs here today!

"Vintage Autumn Leaf" Earrings

I couldn't figure out what to do with this Vintaj Natural Brass 'branch'.  I've seen tons of these worked beautifully into so many designs over the past year, but nothing was speaking to me - until, I came up with this "Vintage Brooch".

I even tried to hammer/texture the back pin portion so it would look a bit more 'tree like'.
(which was silly - cause no one's gonna see that part, it's going to go into your scarf or sweater, etc. - but, live and learn!)

"Colors of Fall" Vintage Inspired Brooch

And, then there were still so many components staring at me, but I kept going back to this piece of "Candy". Well, it looks like a "Vintage" piece of candy to me!

I love it but all I could think of was "Coffee".  So, this is "Coffee with Cream, Please."  A very simple and not so very vintage looking necklace, but vintage enough for me.

"Coffee with Cream, Please" Vintage Inspired Necklace

I still have several other things from my kit on my bench that need to be made into something.  Especially this one really cool lucite tear drop shaped component.

It keeps screaming "70's" to me,
but since that's not very 'vintage'
(hey watching it for those of you who just said out loud
"The 70's are very vintage!" )
I'm saving that for a more 'retro' piece!

Thanks to Michelle Mack for hosting this lovely challenge.
I'm glad I participated ~ I had a lot of fun!

I hope everyone enjoys hopping through all the other particpants blogs and seeing the wonderful designs they've created.
Don't forget to leave a nice comment for everyone, too!
And, thanks so much for stopping here, too - I appreciate it!

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and "Falling For Vintage"!

Cheers,
~Shel~

Bead Table Wednesday

Here's what's happening in my studio today,...

This bracelet (remember this from last week?) still isn't right!

Unfinished Bracelets  - It's Driving Me NUTS!

I've tried Sari Silk, bead drops/dangles, all kinds of stuff - nothing looks good to me.  Although, it does feel really good right now with all these silk ties on it - very smooth, cool, and soft - so that's nice, but we'll see where this goes!

And these,...oh boy!  Yes, these are those "Snake Skin" components that I won from Kristi Bowman over at Dreamsome Designs

Snake Skins and Pearls!!

Yep - I added glorious pearls (of course!) and wrapped them w/some vintage colored wired from Parawire/Vintaj - lovely color, huh?!  And then I added some custom earring wires with the wire as well.  Can't wait to get some real 'shots' of these earrings - they're very cool in person!

And last, but not least, it's these little devils giving me a hard time this week with the Very Vintage Fall Challenge over on Michelle Mach's blog.  I'm stumped!!

A few components from the Very Vintage Fall Challenge Kit

So, these will be on my table, staring at me for the rest of the week until my muse shows up and tells me what to do!!

What's on your bead table this Wednesday?  Hop on over to the Flickr group and check out everyone's tables - they're pretty cool!!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Happy BTW!!
Cheers,

I'm Vintage Challenged,....Literally!!

Michelle Mach is having over on her blog
this fall is almost upon us and I’m basically stressing out!

Okay, Okay,...so I'm not really stressing out,...I’m 'twirling'.

(Those of you who physically know me just got a good visual, didn't you?!)

Any hoo, we don’t actually have to create something
‘vintage’ looking with our components, we can do anything; fall, hip, modern, trendy, rustic, boho,…you get the picture!

But I’ve decided, since it IS called the
that I’d make something completely out of my style element and do something “Very Vintage” as the Challenge title suggests.

"Vintaj" Brass, Co.  - Lovely Goodies!

So, I’ve been playing around with a few of these,….trying to put them with some of the things that came in my
and I think I need more inspiration.

I need some real “vintage” items to actually hold, touch, smell (yes, there’s a vintage smell to jewelry – trust me!)

I’m going to be putting on some Beggie Adair music this week, sitting down and looking over Grandma Mate’s jewelry,
(yep, they gave that to the right little girl, don’t ya know!)
and seeing what these bits of inspiration can manage to
“Muse-Up” from me.

The “Big Reveal Date” is October 4th – Right Here
and of course,…right here!

So stay tuned and I’ll let you know how it goes.
Wish me luck!!

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love, and Twirling with Vintage Anticipation!
Cheers,

Very Vintage Fall Challenge!

Very Vintage Fall Challenge Designs Kits
by Michelle Mach

Excitement!  Sometimes, getting me (Shel) out of her "shell" is not easy - just ask my friends or my hubby!

So, when I came across the Very Vintage Fall Challenge over on Michelle Mach's blog I almost passed up the opportunity to stretch my potential - I'm so glad I didn't!

I saw all the lovely beads and findings she had in her kits for the Fall Challenge and fell in love with them!  I love all things to do with fall,...the colors, the fabulous jewelry, the sports, the holidays, the sights, sounds and smells - you name it!  Halloween's my favorite holiday too, by the way. I mean what's not to love, right?!

Anyhoo,...what I'm not so good at is creating 'vintage inspired' jewelry since most of my designs are pretty classic and simply in style. Not that this challenge is only about vintage goodies, oh no, you can design anything you want, but these pieces just scream Vintage (Vintaj!!) and it's a design style I admire and love to drool over!  I haven't worked with too many of the very cool 'Vintaj' products, but have a few pieces on hand because I just thought they were fun, and the items I have all seem to revolve around Fall - go figure!

It's very good to step out of your 'design box' and try new things because just like I've always told my son about trying new foods, "Ya never know when you're gonna find your favorite!" so I'm excited to give this a shot and see what I can produce and hope that it will resemble some sort of  Vintage/Vintaj piece that is appealing and fun to wear!

The reveal date is October 4th and I'll give you a "Heads Up" when it's time to hop on over to all the participant's blogs and check out their fabulous designs - there's some amazing talent in this challenge, let me tell you!

So, Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and all things Vintaj!
Cheers,
