Celebrate the Season - FOL28

Our July theme for the Focus on Life:2014 Weekly Photography Challenge is "Celebrate" and for week 28 Sally, over at The Studio Sublime, prompted us to

"Celebrate the Season"

Each summer we spend time at my sis's cabin in the mountains and I love to 'Celebrate the Season' by capturing photos of all the lovely wild flowers growing all around!!

Please stop by and see how every one else is Celebrating this Summer Season,....

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Celebrating Summer!
Cheers,
~Shel~

Focus on Life - Week 8 - Monochromatic

Sally's prompt was: MONOCHROMATIC

"This week look deeper through the lens to the story your photo captures and then process it to one color!
Or be daring and shoot in B&W (monochrome)."

I thought this would be a rather easy challenge but I was wrong.

I played around with my camera settings and some photo editing software programs and tried out new things.

I really like other people's black and white photos and even many photos I see with Sepia and other tones, but not so much my own photos.

Sepia's not too bad I guess,....

I just really don't have the eye for it.

Not the way I want to, anyway.

That said, it really made me start viewing things in an entirely new way and noticing different colors.

The mountains of AZ. I truly love how the mountains
are every shade of blue!

I liked that!

So I challenged myself to capture Monochromatic (sort of!) pics in the world around me, with out processing to one color or doing major edits.  And it couldn't be shot in black and white (my own silly rules!).

Pretty much everything is this drab, dead color since we've had such a weird winter.

This was tough - the world is so multi-colored!

Thanks for bringing me out of my comfort zone this week Sally!

It was definitely a fun perspective this week!

Make sure you check out all the other participant's photos!

Just for fun!!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Monochromatic Challenges!
Cheers,
~Shel~

Focusing on Life - Week 7 - Beauty of Flowers

It's week 7 of Focusing on Life: 52 Photos

This week Sally's prompt for us was
"Beauty of Flowers"

"This week take a moment to bring a little happiness
to your soul and enhance your well being.
Take a moment to enjoy the beauty of flowers."

I Enjoy Snapping Pics of Flowers!!

No prompt needed on this one!

However, with the freeze a couple of weeks back and the one this week as well, our rose garden is 'rose-less', and there's no other flowers blooming at the moment either, so I'm sharing with you some of the flowers I've captured in the past.

These are from my backyard, from the White Mountains of AZ, from San Onofre Beach on Camp Pendleton in California and from my trip to Italy last fall.

Sommocolonia, Italy (Tuscany)

Yes, I have a slight flower obsession.

It's as bad as my obsession with snapping pics of doors, locks/keys and door knockers.

Can you tell?! ;-)

Walk in the Woods - I Heart Macro - It's Sunday!

I went for a walk in the woods with the hubby
this weekend while up at my sis's cabin.

Some of the weeds are almost as tall as Mike!

We got some cool shots of the bugs and butterflies,

and flowers and other things.

I'm linking up with I Heart Marco over at Studio Waterstone this Sunday (it's been awhile for me!).

Hope you'll hop on over and check out all the gorgeous photos - they're amazing!!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Enjoying the Outdoors!

Cheers,
~Shel~

Annie Girl - she's a bit camera shy!

Wind

If you're looking for the One Crayon Color Challenge from Yesterday ~

I told you that last weekend we got out of the  desert and headed to the mountains, right?

Well, these little fella's were just begging for attention - but the wind made it rather hard to snap a pic of them.

Here's the best ones I could get before they all just blew away!

Hope you're having a wonderful Sunday!

I'm linking up with I Heart Macro over at Studio Waterstone today - won't you join me?

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and Tiny Treasures!

Cheers,
~Shel~

Mother Nature's Having Fun!

Hey - check out this funky rose that was growing in our rose garden!

I don't know about you, but I've never seen one with a solid stripe down the middle.

I mean we've got all kinds of mixed up colors and blends and what not, but nothing like this before.  Wild, eh?

Guess Mother Nature decided to have some fun!

Everyone have a good weekend!

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and Stripes!

Cheers,
~Shel~

This or That Thursday!

I'm busy getting ready for my jewelry show this Saturday at my sis's house.

Plus, the hubby's birthday is on Sunday.

And, I'm also trying to snap some pics of the arm candy I created for the Wrapped, Stacked and Layered Bracelet Challenge and Blog Hop being hosted this Saturday the 21st by Tracy Statler over at Make Bracelets

But I did get a chance to snap a few pics of some of the gorgeous flowers blooming in our yard this week.

As always, click to enlarge photos.

Oh, and Coco dropped in to say "Hi", too!

Have a great Thursday everyone!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and This or That!

Cheers,
~Shel~
