A Punch of Color (Macro)

It's week 41 for the Focus on Life:2014 Weekly Photography Challenge.

For October our topic is COLOR and so this week Sally prompted us with this:

"Since October's topic is color, why not take a look at color on the macro side of things?
A Punchy Shot of Color, Up Close!"

I LOVE macro shots. They just amaze me.  All those cool textures, colors, and itty-bitty insects. Tiny little worlds going on right before our eyes, only we can't see them unless we stop and get super, super up-close!

It rained recently here in the desert. Supposedly the 'last' of our monsoon weather for the year.

I love taking macros shots of the rose garden in our yard. I'm a bit out of practice as I haven't taken any macro shots for a while now, but boy are they fun to try and capture!

Let's see what other Punchy, Up-Close Shots of Color the rest of the gang captured this week, shall we?

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Color Up Close!
Cheers,
~Shel~

Focus on Life: Week 14 - Up Close

*I'm in Sedona this Friday/Saturday with out internet service, so please forgive me for posting late over at the Studio Sublime this weekend.  I'll be hopping to everyone's blogs that I can on Sunday/Monday!!*

Sally's prompt for Week 14 of

Up Close

"Macro Shots - How Close Can You Get?"

I LOVE me some Macro!

Taken w/my Canon. I had to hold the flower still because it was windy!

I cannot seem to get as close with my new
Canon Powershot XS 160 that I just got as I can
with my Panasonic Lumix DMC-FH5 camera.

I've had 3 Lumix and I love them!
The one I use most has 'macro zoom'.
(translation: super-duper macro!)

This one was taken w/my Lumix. Click to enlarge any of the pics.

The Canon's got a feature that lets you'zoom' while doing video. I know, so does an actual video camera, but a still shot camera seemed more up my alley so I decided to try it.

I'll let you know what I think after I use it a bit.
So far I'm rather pleased with the still shots.

Of course, if I'd ever save up the $$ for a 'big daddy camera' (the kind where the lens costs more than the camera itself), I'm sure my pics could be even better.  And closer!

Spring has Sprung! Captured with the Canon.

But until then, here's some "Macro Love" for you!

Comparing the different photos,...what do you think?

Off Center because of the wind - but still rather close w/the Lumix.

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Getting Up Close!

Snapping Away

I sat under the tree with Coco and sipped my coffee this morning.

I enjoyed the cooler than normal temps and the nice breeze and snapped some pics, too.

It was nice. The breeze made it a bit hard to get photos that weren't blurred.

But, they are what they are.

I'm freaking out that I leave for Italy in three more days. (!!!)

Hope you all have a nice Sunday!

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and Quiet Sundays!

Cheers,

~Shel~

Walk in the Woods - I Heart Macro - It's Sunday!

I went for a walk in the woods with the hubby
this weekend while up at my sis's cabin.

Some of the weeds are almost as tall as Mike!

We got some cool shots of the bugs and butterflies,

and flowers and other things.

I'm linking up with I Heart Marco over at Studio Waterstone this Sunday (it's been awhile for me!).

Hope you'll hop on over and check out all the gorgeous photos - they're amazing!!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Enjoying the Outdoors!

Cheers,
~Shel~

Annie Girl - she's a bit camera shy!

The Hands of Time

The hubby finds the best things,....or maybe they find him!

As he was ready to throw the trash bags on the top of the heap at the mountain dump yesterday, he almost threw them on this old clock.

Luckily he stopped, picked it up, and then tossed the bags over the side.

Pretty cool, eh?!

Look at the patina on the wheels.

And the old craftsmanship - from 1878!!

I love getting shots of old antiques.

Especially before they've been cleaned up.

Just makes my day!!

Won't you join me?

Until Next Time,

Peace, Love and Old Hands of Time!
