It's Here!!

Remember the post here, where I told you I was the super lucky person who'd won the Beading Daily Polyvore Challenge drawing they had where they were giving away Lorelei Eurto's Pompidou necklace that is on the front cover of her and Erin Siegel's book,

50 Designs Using Leather, Ribbon and Cords?

Well, look what arrived in the mail this weekend!!

Oh, isn't it beautiful?!

Thanks Lorelei for getting it in the mail so quickly - that was awesome!

And again, thank you and Erin for teaming up with Beading Daily and hosting such a fun challenge with the Polyvore boards - it was a blast!

I think this might have to make it into my suitcase when I go to Italy next month,...what do you think?

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Bohemian Goodies!
Cheers,

Bohemian Inspired Sweetness!!

I got a really cool email last weekend from Beading Daily.

They told me I had won Lorelei Eurto's Pompidou Necklace that is on the cover of her and Erin Siegel's new book Bohemian Inspired Jewelry, 50 Designs Using Leather, Ribbon and Cords from their Polyvore Challenge they had!

Can you believe it!?!!  I'm so excited!

Thank you so much Beading Daily, Lorelei and Erin for having the Polyvore Challenge, it was a lot of fun!

My Polyvore design with Lorelei's Necklace

You guys really need to get the girls' book, if you don't already have it.  It's very well done.  The layout is great and the photos are amazing. Plus, the way they have all the materials and tools listed as well as how to care for your ribbons, cords, etc. is a huge bonus!

Here's the link to the Interweave Press Book Store:  Bohemian Inspired Jewelry

And, you've got to hop on over to Beading Daily and see what's going on over there this week - they're always full of fun ideas, tips, great articles and videos you can watch - super site!
(I've got the app on my iPhone!)

Here's the link to Lorelei's blog:

Oh,...and Polyvore
I'm seriously obsessed,...that's all I'm gonna say.

I wanted to try and do a little video 'vlog' thing, so here goes.

The video is rather awful (sorry!!) and I'm also sorry for all the movement and for not speaking into the camera and showing my face and all.
If you read Wednesday's post you know I got scratched in the face by my sis's cat (Cosmo kitty) and I've got a bit of an infection on my upper lip - it's pretty ugly and I didn't want to scare you!!

Anyhoo,....as soon as the necklace arrives in the mail (it's on it's way!) I'll post some pics so you can see it up close!

Oh,....the suspense and waiting is sooooo hard!!

Thanks again to all involved with this - you're super!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Pompidou!
Cheers,
~Shel~

Summer's End

It's the end of our summer and we've packed up and left my sis's cabin in the mountains and headed back down to the desert! (and the heat!)

Back to working full time, school shopping, school registration, appointments, clients, taking care of family and home things,..you know, all that good stuff.

The past 4 to 5 days have been very busy and eventful,...

* My sister and nephew returned to the cabin after their visit in Florida with my brother and family.

My sister Marsha and my nephew Preston

* My sis sold her Nutrioso T-Shirts and I sold my jewelry at the Annual Nutrioso BBQ. (Tents up, tents down, packing stuff, unpacking stuff, displaying things, selling things,...you know the routine!)

Marsha with her Nutrioso Shirts in our tent

 * I got clawed by Cosmo kitty when I startled him to death one morning as I went to remove him from the kitchen table. (Bad Cosmo!!) I've got a pretty funky looking swollen upper lip that is infected. I did some research and discovered it's "Cat Scratch Disease", which is a bacterial infection.

Pretty Kitty - Cosmo (a.k.a. - Momo)

Also known as Cat Scratch Fever! LOL!

Cosmo helping with the laundry!

Seriously though,...I go to the doctor tomorrow morning and will hopefully get antibiotics so it doesn't take the normal 3 to 5 weeks to clear up because it itches, tingles and hurts all at the same time. Not to mention that I now LOOK like the cat!  (at least my upper lip does!)

* Mike and I went on a mini-search party the afternoon we were to be heading home when the "Masked Rider", his cousin and a friend of theirs were over an hour late getting back from going caving!  Needless to say we were a bit worried,...but all ended well. Thankfully! (Nerve-wracking!)

Cousins - Preston and Logan (aka - the Masked Rider)

* Got to hang out with my  dearfriend, Jackie, who drove up for the BBQ weekend! (This was the fun part!)

Me and Jackie - Trying to keep dry during the Nutri BBQ

* Made Tortilla soup and Spaghetti Sauce in the crock pot. (not at the same time!) The house smelled great those two days! (This was the yummy part!)

* Created jewelry for the the Nutrioso Craft Show / BBQ. (more fun stuff)

* Watched some very cool storms roll in.
(way cool stuff - but not when you're selling things under a tent!!)

Storm rolling into Nutrioso.  Of course it's during the BBQ!
It's rained every year (except one!) during the BBQ.

* Walked to Grandma Emma's with Marsha, Jackie and Annie and took photos of all the wild flowers. (more fun)

Wild Flowers behind where Grandma Emma's Cabin used to be

Wild Flowers at the Cabin
* Drank coffee on the cabin porch with Marsha and Jackie and soaked up the cool morning temps! (Relaxing part!)

Jackie and Marsha

* Watched videos of the hubby and son riding their motorbikes up to the lakes.
(Going way too fast too, I might add!!)

The Masked Rider out in the desert on his old bike

* Took care of Cosmo Kitty and Annie Girl!

Annie Girl!!

I will miss the cat and the dog!  (Sshhhh,...don't tell anyone!!) It will be nice now though to get some sleep because Cosmo won't be trying to sleep on my head or suck on my hair in the middle of the night!  (strange cat!)

Cosmo Kitty Reading His Emails!

I've got some exciting news that was emailed my way this past weekend as well, so I'm going to be sharing that with you here one of these days this week, too.

You know, once things get back to normal!

Are you winding down for the summer or are you getting to enjoy a few more weeks of leisure time with your friends and family?

For those of you winding down,....I feel your pain!

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Summer Endings,....
Cheers,
~Shel~

Musical Inspiration

Everyone who knows me personally knows I'm a huge Jesse Cook fan - I love his music and rave about him all the time!

Jesse Cook

Jesse's the most amazing acoustic guitarist I've ever seen.
His music is referred to as "Flamenco Rumba" and then kind of Jesse's own style mixed in,...amazing stuff!

Bogota By Bus - Rumba Foundation, Jesse Cook

One of my favorites is Havana, off the Frontiers CD, but the video link I have here is one Jesse put together himself while on tour and it's really fantastic.
I've seen him in concert 5 times and I've dragged my hubby and son along with me at least 4 times and even had him autograph my son's guitar one year.

I listen to his music all the time when I'm creating jewelry. You could call it my 'go-to' music. It's there, with this rhythm that just moves me and speaks to my soul.

At one concert, a woman got up on stage dressed in what appeared to be a belly dance costume and started dancing. We thought it was part of the show but she turned out to be just an avid fan!

Via Pinterst

The first time I ordered tickets to see him the conversation with the ticket guy went something like this:

Me: "Where ever I sit, I have to be able to see his hands!"
Ticket Dude: (total silence,....)
Me: "Hello?"
Ticket Dude: "Why?"
Me: "I cannot imagine anyone being able to do what he does with a guitar!"
Ticket Dude: "Cool. Okay, you got it."

I got seats close enough to see his hands!
Well, only during the slow parts. His hands move so fast on some songs they're just a blur,....seriously!!

George Benson (!!!) was in the audience that night too and Jesse played so hard he broke a guitar string and didn't even miss a note!  It was incredible!

Our friends emailed me a couple of weeks back that they want to meet up again this coming March in Wickenburg for Jesse's next visit to Arizona - sweet! And since the concert's really close to my birthday I'm hopeful I'll be able to pull off getting to attend again!

Wire wrapped oval hoops with Sari silk and seed beads

So, on my bead table today are these earrings from yesterday (it rained all day,...rather dark,...can you tell by the earrings?)

I've got a few other things waiting around to be put together as well.

Leather and wire wrapped hoops with nut beads

And in the background,...yep,...Jesse. Turned WAY up!

What do you listen to when you create?  What kind of music motivates you? Do you like just 'filter' noise or do you design around the style of music you have on?

You'd think that listening to the type of music I do,...Flamenco Rumba, Jazz, Blues, Rock, etc. that my designs would have a bit more color. I guess the weather was a big influence yesterday.

I've been listening to The Wanted for the past several months too - they're kinda 'bubble-gum' as my son puts it - but hey, I like that flavor. It goes well with hot, spicy Rumba!! ;-)

Until Next Time,
Peace, Love and Awesome Tunes!
Cheers,
~Shel~
